About the project

When it's important to take care of your loved ones.

“Sister” is a startup that cuts out the middlemen between families and private medical professionals. Instead of calling numbers in classified ads or asking around— the app: describe the procedure, receive responses from verified caregivers and nurses, choose based on ratings and price, coordinate a time via WhatsApp—and help arrives.

  • 01 Care for the elderly and people with limited mobility
  • 02 Support and assistance following illness
  • 03 Massage for adults and children
  • 04 Support during recovery
  • 05 Dressings and wound care
  • 06 Injections, IVs, and other procedures at home
  • 07 Hijama and niche services
“Through the app—verified caregivers, nurses, and care specialists with proven experience. Peace of mind and no unnecessary trips.”

— App description in the App Store

Two-sided marketplace

One product —
two scenarios.

The app features two roles with fundamentally different interfaces and logic— the service requester and the service provider. Their paths intersect only when a request is responded to.

Client

A family is looking for help for a loved one—at home, at a convenient time, from a trusted professional.

  • Selects a service from the catalog: injection, IV, dressing change, massage, care
  • Provides patient details: gender, age, height, weight, health conditions
  • Schedules the date, address, and duration of the treatment course
  • Receives responses from several specialists with prices and comments
  • Selects based on rating, experience, and price—contacts via WhatsApp
  • Confirms “service completed” after the visit

Service Provider

Caregiver, nurse, or care specialist—receives a steady stream of clients without phone calls or intermediaries.

  • Signs up, fills out profile: education, experience, specialization
  • Sees a feed of requests in their city for their services
  • Responds to interesting ones: offers their price and a comment
  • Receives a notification when the client has selected them
  • Contacts the client via WhatsApp to clarify details
  • Marks the request as “completed” — earns a rating and reviews
Stack and role

Flutter + Node.js —
a single product on two pages.

Cross-platform Flutter — to deploy to iOS and Android from a single codebase without compromising on quality. Backend on Node.js — for marketplace logic, real-time contractor responses, and push notifications.

Case

Problem → Solution → Result.

The market for private in-home healthcare in Russia consists of thousands of posts on social media, chats on messaging apps, and requests like “Can you recommend someone you know?” The startup “Sister” decided to bring all of this together into a single digital product.

01
Objective

Launch a native marketplace for private healthcare services from scratch.

The startup team came up with an idea and some initial hypotheses—the challenge was to turn this into a working product for iOS and Android, with a short time-to-market and the ability to quickly change the marketplace logic as hypotheses were tested on real customers.

02
Solution

Flutter, Node.js, and well-designed workflows for both roles.

We chose Flutter for its single codebase and fast iteration speed. We designed two user flows: for the customer—a request creation wizard, a feed of responses, and the ability to sort by rating and price; for the service provider — a profile, a feed of available requests, and a response with a price. On the backend ;— Node.js with matching logic, push notifications, and a role-based model. Communication between parties was moved to WhatsApp—an intuitive channel that doesn’t require support.

03
Result

Available on the App Store and RuStore. Updated regularly.

The app has passed moderation on both app stores and has been launched in production. Updates are released regularly with new features—for example, a dynamic display of the steps involved in creating a request and new fields (self-service, assistance, desired price). The startup has a working digital channel that scales across cities without requiring rewriting.

Functionality

Each screen is a specific step in the script.

The six key screens of the app that both the customer and the service provider navigate through. From the initial browse through the catalog to the completion of the order.

01

Service Catalog — 15+ categories.

The home screen displays active requests and a list of all available services: injections (intravenous/intramuscular), IV drips, care for bedridden patients, massage for various age groups, wound dressings, and cupping therapy. At the top—the current city and profile avatar.

  • Active claims with a single card
  • Complete catalog of medical services
  • Geolocation and city change

02

Wizard application creation.

Seven steps with a progress bar: select a procedure, enter patient details (gender, age, weight, height), health conditions, address, date and time, and course duration. The steps are displayed dynamically based on the selected service.

  • Up to 7 steps with progress
  • Dynamic fields based on service type
  • Ability to go back and make corrections

03

Specialist Profile.

A profile page featuring the specialist’s photo, age, education, and work experience. A detailed description of their specialization, client reviews, and a “Select Specialist” button at the bottom. The client sees who they are entrusting the health of their loved ones to.

  • Education and work experience
  • Specialization description
  • Rating and client reviews

04

Reviews with prices.

After a request is posted, service providers submit their proposals: their name, a brief comment, and a price. The customer compares them all on a single screen and chooses the best fit—based on price, experience, and availability at the desired time.

  • Multiple responses in a single card
  • Price and comment from each
  • Link to the contractor's full profile
Responses to request
05

Contractor's side.

The specialist views the request with details: procedure type, patient information, address, and time. They specify their price range (e.g., 200–500₽), can select the recommended price, and add a comment. One tap—and the response is sent to the client.

  • Full request details
  • Your price or the recommended price
  • Comment on the response

06

Communication and Closing a Request.

Once the client has selected a provider — contact details appear: patient's name, phone number, and a link to WhatsApp with a single click. After the visit—a large green “Service Provided” button: the cycle is closed, and the rating rises.

  • Contact details for both parties
  • Direct link to WhatsApp
  • Closing the request and rating request
